National Child Protection Week: Every Conversation Matters

National Child Protection Week runs from 6–12 September, providing an opportunity to focus on the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.

This year’s theme is “Every Conversation Matters: Shifting Conversation to Action”, highlighting the importance of talking about child safety and taking practical steps to help create safer environments for children.

Why is child protection important?

Children need to feel safe, supported and comfortable speaking to trusted adults when something doesn't feel right.

Simple conversations about feelings, boundaries, relationships and personal safety can help children understand that they have a voice and that they can ask for help. Just as importantly, adults need to listen, take children seriously and know how to respond when a child raises a concern.

Everyone has a role to play

Keeping children safe isn't just the responsibility of parents and carers. Educators, activity providers, sporting clubs, community organisations and other adults who work with children all have an important role to play.

At Inspire, creating safe and supportive environments is an important part of what we do every day. National Child Protection Week is a great reminder to keep listening to children, supporting their wellbeing and making their safety a priority.

Every conversation matters. Taking the time to listen, ask questions and support children can help create environments where they feel safe, respected and heard.
